This is the JDA all over though, the time delay between the mouth and the brain is obvious to everyone.

The UK have tried to legislate on what constitutes luxury food.  Their law is a Joke and unfortunately a very expensive joke for business.

at the moment it is probably anything which you havent grown yourself or doesn't come from Iceland (the shop not the country.  Seal steaks are rare at the Georgetown store)

In the UK a £400 can of caviar is VAT free.  A chocolate biscuit is 17.5%.

The UK system is NOT rational, in fact as it relates to food it is just stupid.  Any politician wanting to introduce such a system here should be voted out.

If we must have GST then exempt ALL food and drink.  If a rational person would eat or drink it is GST free.

Good thinking PN - if we pay GST on the intake of food, don't you think it only fair that we could claim it back once ejected so to speak?

I thought one of the proposed taxes was a fixed "drainage" fee for every property so guess there is little chance of this.

Dylan - you have a point.  Those of us on tight tanks are now paying double - tax in and tax out.

If you've got a Tank for sale I reckon I know someone who would be interested. This could be a win win win situation. ;D
