Hi,

Razzard,

You are so pc bad.  You had me in in stitches !!!. I had a pint ( more than one) once in Charleville. I will not mention Mallow (oops). I was there because we had to wait for a bus to Drumcolliher for a wedding. We all parked outside the Ford Dealership in the Limerick side and hacked them off as some of the cars were there until Monday (not mine). I had a blue Ford Fiesta then. It was 1979.

Boy, do you bring back some memories of some wild Limerick and North Cork men and women. We are all in our fifties now and very sensible. Or should be.

Sean

Yes,

I am a very bad person. I had a blue MK 1 Ford Fiesta with beige seats ( 1.1L). The seats would not recline fully. That was tested. The radio was standard on the 1.1L.

I did kiss the Blarney Stone once. I cannot say I was sober as I was with a group that day that had come up from Crosshaven. That was again the late 70's.

Now, I love my Vespa. It is a 125cc and I take perverse pleasure from shooting through traffic. I wonder why anyone would want to sit at La Haule or anywhere for 20/25 minutes, when you can be a Vespa dare-devil.

I rarely take a car to town. I don't do traffic.

I broke my leg recently. I can say though, that 2 wheels are still so much faster than four. I love my old push bike . Only 21 gears ! Steel with two panniers. A 1996 special from Boudins. Now has 4,000 plus miles clocked,

Developing on from this>>>

I would like to see a bigger re-use of a town centre site for bike racks, more motorcycle parking, lockers, showers, suit and dress storage. Get people out of cars. Maybe a breakfast room from 0600 to 0900. That would be fun.

Where is there a badly accessed ( that can be improved) 22 acre site in the middle of St. Helier that is underused.???

Fort Regent.

I would fund and have speed lifts at the Snow Hill end that would take people and bikes. I would have a vast locker room (bike racks outside), linked to the Fitness area, space and the big breakfast room.

I think this is an option.

I have always thought that this 22 acre site in the middle of St. Helier is a vast under utilised resource.

The key is access. When you define pedestrian and 2 wheel access, then it gets easier.

Danrok,

Not so much as a bike lift as a big lift. My schematic would be a ventililated big lift like the Hospital lifts. Bike space on the lifts with vertical hook storage ( if necessary ) and then covered racks along the wall to the showers. Much bigger storage of mopeds at Snow Hill. Smart cards to clock the parking of 2 wheels (motorised and push) at Fort Regent and Snow Hill, and linked to the access to Fort Regent.

That is what I would do !  My problem is as a backbancher, nobody listens.

Middle Jersey where are you ?  I invented that phrase in the Emeraude campaign.  Now, I have an idea to re-form that.

Sometimes I feel Jersey needs a strong leader that needs to ride over all the rubbish.

How about buses with small tables and slightly more comfortable seats. And while you're getting into town, you can order your breakfast on the bus. Have a cup of coffee or tea, have a croissant, crumpets, scrambled eggs and toast (be careful you don't end up with egg on your face, though). You need to book in advance, but that should be easy because people usually take the same bus in the morning anyway so ...

Mmmmm, I think I just found a niche in the market. I'll go and talk to Connex in the morning !  ;D

Something would have to be done about the state of the roads first.

Hey Sean, what's with the "sometimes" ?  ;)

I share your views on the joys of motorcycling through the traffic. I've recently got a 125 with gears, my fragile ego wouldn't allow me to have a twist-and-go, but I digress...
